LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County School District Board of Trustees recommended the following items at their meeting Thursday. The board will take action on these items at the July 28 voting meeting.

• Recommend approval of the minutes of the Committee of the Whole meeting held on June 16, 2022.

• Recommend approval of the minutes of the regular Board meeting held on June 23, 2022.

• Recommend approval of the following draft policies as second reading and final approval to replace policies adopted by the Board: Academic Guidance, Special Education, Discipline of Students with Disabilities, Behavior Support, Screening and Assessments of Students with Disabilities, Confidentiality Special Education Student Information, Gifted Education, Career and Technical Education, Tutoring, Homeschooling, News, Field Trips, Extracurricular Activities, Interscholastic Athletics, Concussion Management, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Alternative Education, Child Education adults, class size, assessment system, head lice, drugs, threat assessment.

• Recommend approval of the following draft policies at first reading to replace policies adopted by the Board: Homework, Homeschooling Programs, Extracurricular Involvement of Homeschooling Students, Language Instruction Program for English Learners, Charter Schools, Extracurricular Participation by Charter/Cyber ​​Charter Students, Migrant Students, Standards for Persistently Dangerous Schools, Standards for Victims of Violent Crime, Student Services, Title I – Comparability of Services, clothing and grooming.

• Recommend approval of the following new textbooks: Savvas – enVision Mathematics – digital resource 2021 – grades 6 and 7, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt – Into Math – digital resource 2020 – grade 8, McGraw Hill – Reveal Algebra 2 – 1st edition 2020, Savvas – Blitzer Algebra and Trigonometry – 7th edition 2022, TCI Social Studies: Pursuing American Ideals – digital resource 2019 – Grade 9, TCI Social Studies: the US Through Industrialism – digital resource 2023 – Grade 8.

• Recommend approval of the following financial items: Review of Treasurer’s Reports for the month ended June 30, 2022 – Kish Bank, PSDLAF/PSDMAX, Temporary Investments Report and Summary, Capital Projects Fund (PLGIT), Project athletic, Review bill list for payment, review income and expense summaries, property and per capita reports.

• Recommend the approval of Young, Oakes, Brown & Company, PC to perform an agreed-upon procedure engagement for real estate and per capita collectors for the year ending June 30, 2022, at an estimated cost of $18,150.

• Recommend authorization to make the necessary budget transfers for 2021-2022, it being understood that a list of transfers will be returned to the Board for information: State budget update, examples of real estate invoices and per capita, financial history of athletics.

• Recommend approval of the following cafeteria items: cafeteria financial report for June 2022, request for authorization to pay cafeteria bills for June 2022, food services budget for the school year 2022- 2023 will be presented at the regular council meeting of July 28, 2022.

• Recommend approval of the following transportation elements: Recommended Drivers Lyman Guss (ER Rhodes), Dawn Walter (Krise Transportation).

• Recommend the approval of the following individuals as building leaders for the 2022-2023 school year:

Amber Fuller, LES ($1,300 allowance)

• Recommend the approval of Christieanna Ofori Tawiah as a part-time contract Mental Health Coordinator at a rate of $51,980. This position is funded by the PCCD Safety and Security Grant, and the position works 135 days per school year.

• Recommend Cynthia Heister’s contract renewal as Occupational Therapist, owner of Motivation Occupational Therapy, LLC, at the rate of $82.00 per hour for services.

• Recommend approval of a $500 per capita stipend for Frank Miller to supervise two teachers at Panda Preschool and Daycare and one at St. John’s Christian Daycare and Preschool for the 2022-2023 school year so that these teachers obtain the Level II certification. Each daycare center pays the allowance.

• Recommend approval for the following items to receive a “Free Athletic Pass” at all MCSD sporting events: Mifflin County residents over 65, active duty military and veterans.

• Recommend approval for all MCSD students to have free access to all MCSD sporting events.

• Recommend approval of the following coaches for the 2022-23 fall season: Julia Montgomery (Volunteer Cross Country), Sage Heckendorn (Volunteer Women’s Football), Isaiah Reed (Assistant Coach Junior Football), Josh Snook (Assistant Coach junior soccer). ).

• Recommend that the following central office administrators be authorized to sign contracts on behalf of the Mifflin County School District from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023: Vance Varner (Superintendent), Thomas White (Director of Buildings and Grounds), Natisha Maclay (Athletic Director), Cindi Marsh (Director of Student Services), Doug Cunningham (Director of Information Systems), Steven DeArment (Academic Director).
