Janis (Cotton) Robinson, 95, of Middletown, CT, formerly of Woodbury, NJ, beloved wife of the late Douglas Yohannes Robinson, passed away on Monday October 4, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, CT. Janis was born in Vineland, NJ, daughter of the late T. Earl Cotton and Myrtle (Jenkins) Cotton. Her family moved to Woodbury, NJ, where she graduated from Woodbury High School in 1943. Janis graduated from Southern Seminary and Junior College in 1945 with a degree in merchandising. She liked to travel to Philadelphia to work at Dewees and then Girard Trust Bank. Later, as a stay-at-home mom, she was the glue that held us all together, lovingly dedicating herself to the children, husband and home. Janis was a long-time member of the Woodbury Presbyterian Church where she volunteered, helped whenever asked, and encouraged her children’s Christian education. She also volunteered for over 30 years at the former Underwood Memorial Hospital. She loved to help patients and visitors. Janis had a passion for plants. She knew the common and Latin names of most indoor and outdoor flora. She had lovely gardens around the house in Woodbury. The descendants of his plants now illuminate the gardens of his children. Her gardening tip was to always add a touch of yellow! Janis and Doug, who was the love of her life, were blessed with a long retirement. They spent their time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their wonderful long-time friends (the “gang”), Timi and Denny and continued their love of travel within and outside the United States. . Ocean City, Britain, a world cruise to Japan, China and Hong Kong were among their favorite destinations. If asked about the highlight of her travels, Janis would tell you it was the Great Wall of China. Disney World held a special place in their hearts, enjoying many visits over the years. Discovering their photo on a Disney World brochure, Janis transformed the use of their image into an extended Disney pass. Janis is survived by two daughters, JoAnne O’Brien (Eric) of East Haddam, CT, Lynne Hofferica (Dan) of Carlisle, PA, one son, Brett Robinson (deceased Martha) of Clermont, FL, six children -children, Elizabeth Dukart (Chris), Grant Robinson (Ashleigh), Jake Hofferica (fiancé Sarah), Grace Hofferica (fiancé Dino), Colin O’Brien, Lydia O’Brien, five great-grandchildren, Sam Dukart, Matthew Dukart, Parker Robinson, Olivia Robinson, and Colton Robinson, and a niece, Timothi Anne Mole Smith (Dennis) from Florida.
