Christ-Centered Educator: Ladd Appointed New Trustee of Heritage Christian School | Characteristics

Tracy Ladd wants students and families at Heritage Christian School to know that while the school is going through a number of staff changes, the core of its mission remains the same.

“We are committed to promoting Christ-centered education, teaching children the greatest fundamental commandments: love God and love your neighbor,” she said, while “helping children learn the foundational principles in a well-managed environment ”.

Ladd was recently appointed the new administrator of Heritage Christian School. She replaces Tom Hoak, who retired at the end of the 2020-21 school year.

She saw firsthand the hard work and blessing that comes with being a part of the Heritage Christian School, she said, having served there at almost every level, as parent, volunteer, librarian, cleaner, substitute, teacher and event coordinator.

“I asked the Lord to make me want to take the post of administrator if he wanted me to pursue it,” she said. “The Lord not only gave me an eagerness for the work, He also gave me multiple encouragement from others that this decision is wise.”

Ladd taught at Heritage for 21 years. She began her educational career there after graduating from college, teaching in the fifth grade.

After that, she took a seven-year break to stay home with her children and returned to school to teach sixth grade English and reading for 14 years.

She holds a BA in Elementary Education from Grace College, where she received the Future Teacher of the Year Award and the Outstanding Future Teacher of Reading Award.

Its goals for the school are the same as they have been for the past 37 years: HCS graduates should glorify God by examining each subject through a Christian worldview; they should know who made them and why; and they should have a close bond with other HCS students who often become lifelong friends.

Her acceptance of the administrator position was made possible by the support and encouragement of her husband, Nathan, and her children, Jacob, Sydney and Alaina, she said.

“I am also grateful for the enthusiastic support and assistance of the elders of the Heritage Baptist Church,” she said.
